Exciting news! The Mandee fashion store in Midway Plaza (4703 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808) has generously offered to host a benefit shopping event for us! We are gearing up for a busy spring! We are holding two adoption days in April. On Saturday April 14th we will be at Pet Valu in Kennett Square from 11:00 to 3:00. And on April 28th we will be at Concord Pets on Kirkwood Highway from 11:00 to 3:00. Lots of wonderful cats will be in attendance! Our spring yard sale will be on Saturday May 5th at Pet Valu from 10:00 5:00. Please mark your calendars!

Castaway Cats is very lucky to have the support of two local girl scout troops! Junior Girl Scout Troop # 41184 made us some wonderful cat care packages using Fluffy's Blankets as part of their Bronze Award. And the girls in Troop #4750 made us cat toys and bracelets to sell as a fundraiser. Thank you girls!!
We want to give a shout-out to a very special girl ~ Anna Ehlers. For her birthday, Anna asked for donations to Castaway Cats instead of gifts for herself! As a result, she donated many wonderful items to us! Thank you Anna for your generosity and thoughtfulness! You helped us help the cats!

Some sad statistics to share from 2010.
The top four largest shelters in Delaware took in around 9,000 cats. Of those 9,000, about 2,100 were reunited with their owners. Around 2,900 were adopted (yay!!) and around 4,000 were euthanized. :( This is why it's so important to spay or neuter your cat! Please contact us if you need help ~ we can get you low-cost spaying and neutering for your cat or kitten!
