We are excited to annouonce we will be hosting our second Family Fun Night fundraiser at the Friendly's Resturant located at 2670 Kirkwood Highway, Newark, DE on Wednesday, December 7th from 5:00 to 9:00 pm. A portion of your purchase, dine-in or take-out, will be donated to Castaway Cats. So gather your family and friends and head out to Friendly's on the 7th! Have a great meal and help feed a homeless cat at the same time!
Our next adoption event is Saturday, November 5th from 12:00 to 4:00 at Concord Pets & Supply,located at 1450 Kirkwood Highway, The Shoppes at Red Mill, Newark DE, 19711. We will have lots of kittens available for adoption. If you send in your adoption application now and are pre-approved, you can take your new kitten home that day! Just go to our "Available Cats" page to fill out the online application. We are sorry but there will be no on-site adoptions without pre-approval. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
We will also be at Pet Valu, 817 East Baltimore Pike,Kennett Square, PA, on Saturday, December 3rd from 12:00 to 4:00.

The new stats are in for 2010. We had a busy year! We placed 81 wonderful cats into loving homes in 2010, bringing our grand total up to 826 adoptions! We spayed/neutered a total of 229 cats last year, bringing our grand total to 1,666 cats who won't continue to reproduce unwanted kittens! We couldn't have done it without the generous help and support from the public! Thank you all so much for allowing us to continue our work. Here's hoping for a successful 2011!

What a fantastic year 2009 was for us! Thanks to all the generous donations and support we received, this past year we were able to spay and neuter 168 cats and kittens, bringing our grand total since 1992 to 1437! We were able to place 94 cats (31 adults and 63 kittens) into loving homes ~ the highest number we ever placed in a single year! This brings our total since 1992 to 744. This may not seem like much compared to the larger shelters, but we are comprised of only a few individuals and foster homes. We do the best we can with the resources we have, and we could never do any of this without all of you. Thank you! Here's hoping we beat our record in 2010!
We at Castaway Cats want to thank a very SPECIAL girl named Victoria Grillo.
When asked what she wanted for Christmas, she replied "I want to help the animals!" She does this every year and this year we were the lucky recipients!
She collected not only monetary donations totaling $130 but also a lot of various cat food, litter and toys!
We can not thank her enough for putting our "Castaway Cats" on her holiday list ~ what a wonderful thing to do and for this we are so grateful!
Thank you to everyone who came to visit us at the first annual New Garden Township Rescue Day! We had wonderful weather and it was nice to meet so many cat-lovin' people! Please be sure to visit us again next year!

~ REUNITED!
We recently received an email from a woman inquiring about one of our cats named Timmy. It seems she had lost her beloved 15 year old cat named Mickey back in November and our Timmy looked exactly like him! Well "Timmy" had been found as a stray in November 2008 so we immediately set up a meeting! It turns out that "Timmy" was Mickey! The reunion was full of happy tears and happy purrs and Mickey is thrilled to be back with his family again!! We love a happy ending.
